You reference prospects as assets and Joe McDonnell made the same point, I don’t understand why NHL GMs don’t use those assets to trade prospects for prospects at the same phase in their development to balance out their pools. Trade a skilled forward prospect starting to knock on the NHL door for a solid potential second pair RHD in the same place. Seems GMs, not unlike fans, get attached to the kids they draft and develop.
Yes, that's absolutely a valid point. I remember when Jim Nill refused to trade Julius Honka for Cam Talbot right before 2015-16 season and then opted to trade for Antti Niemi rights instead, sometimes you gotta give to get.
There's definitely trade in the cards here for right-handed D, as well as there is a chance one of Kyrou, White, Fegaras, Bar or somebody else pops out.
